SATURDAY SESSIONS
Slipstreamers run sessions every
Saturday morning of the year bar Christmas Day and New Years Day when they fall
on a Saturday as they did this year.
The sessions are held at the Hillingdon
Circuit in Minet Park from 10 am - 12.30 pm and go ahead rain or shine. If the weather is
too bad to be on the circuit - very rare - then the coaches run demonstrations
and teach bike maintenance indoors at the Minet country park lodge where we also gather
for refreshments and prize-givings at the end of every session.
New Riders All new rider riders are required to complete a rider induction form and attend an induction session before being allowed to ride on the circuit. This is to enable each rider to gain the best experience suited to their individual needs. The induction includes initial rider training and a skills assessment. It is our objective to offer induction sessions to all new riders on their first visit, however this is subject to numbers and coach availability on the day. Please note:
If you have attended a Slipstreamers session in the past, or are a member of another club or group, you will need to complete a rider induction form. You still may need to complete an induction session but this is at the discretion of the coaches.

Cycles
If you can't bring your own bike,
then we have cycles to hire at £2 per session. This can be a useful way of
trying out a racing bike for the first time before committing to the expense of
buying your own. There are sometimes secondhand bikes for sale and the
Slipstreamers have their own set of special track bikes that can be borrowed by
members for training or racing sessions.
Our club mechanics are also on
hand to help and advise on the technical aspects and maintenance of cycles.
What to Wear
This is very important!
Helmets
- Compulsory for all riders. If you have forgotten it, outgrown it or simply
don't have one then they are available for loan.
Gloves
- Another must for cyclists of all ages. We recommend padded gloves both in
summer (fingerless) and winter to protect the hands and keep out the cold.
Cycling Kit
- This can be expensive to buy all in one go, so at the beginning when children
are just discovering the joys of cycling, everyday clothes are fine although we
suggest close fitting trousers to prevent them catching in the chain. Also shoes
must not have trailing laces.
Winter Wear
- It gets very cold on the circuit! It is always colder there than when
you left home! Many thinner layers are better than one or two thick tops and
more experienced riders always wear overshoes and a cap or bandana underneath
their helmet to keep head and ears warm.
Club Kit -
Slipstreamers club kit is available at cost price and we also have badges that
can be sewn onto kit bags etc.
