Enjoy the following fantastic report by Jemma Bowler:

“Last Sunday my Dad, Lorna and I went up to Chesterfield to the Inter-Area team cyclo-cross championships. I raced for my region which is Central with under 16’s because we are all classed as youth. The other Slipstreamers in my team were Lorna Bowler, Charles Page, Ben Moriarty and Gabe Banner. As well as that our team had lots of other people but they aren’t in Slipstreamers. When we got there the course was horrendous, it was so muddy because there was a race the day before and so it got all mucked up.

It was great fun but I felt like it wasn’t that much of a race because you had to have at least 3 bikes and 5 people in the pits to help you. There was so much mud in my bike I had to go into the pits and get my spare but after a short while I couldn’t push that one properly either!  A lot of our team got mechanicals because the rear mecs or hangers snapped off, luckily that didn’t happen to me. All the team put in 100% effort and so did the coaches. The day was brilliant but it could have had a bit less mud! Overall, I really enjoyed racing around the course (even though I was running most of it) and the day was sort of a success. The experience was amazing and I hope I get another chance to do it again next year.”
