8th February 2015: Gorrick Spring Series Round 2, Crowthorne Wood, Berkshire
Rider Report by Alexander Uphill, U11 Category

Champion MTBer!

We didn’t get a great start to the day and for once it wasn’t my fault! Dad took us to the wrong place! Luckily, it wasn’t too far from where we were supposed to be, so with some fast driving we made it in time to pick up race numbers and a quick warm up.

I didn’t have time to ride the course, so much of what was ahead was going to be a surprise.I got a really strong start, my gears were right and I got a good sprint up the first open hilly sections of the course where I had warmed up. I was in the lead by the first corner, which was great as I knew that would put me in a strong position for the single track sections. There were some technical sections thought the woods, with twists and turns, a steep drop off and lumpy root climbing sections, where I took my time to keep my balance.

I kept pushing and overtook some older riders from the race in front. It was great to come over the finish line first and hear my result over the load speakers. I got a small trophy for the win. My first MTB win!

Alex came 1st in his age category – FABULOUS result Alex!
