Not only do we enjoy sharing your race experiences, cycling antics, and random fun stuff – but we also love to hear about those really special moments that are genuinely “once in a lifetime”. Well, we are very excited to share the experience of U10 Slipstreamer Patrick Rabey, one of ten children selected from a prize draw on the Evans Cycles website to attend a cycling skills session with none other than Sir Chris Hoy at the London Bike Show last weekend. Of course this in itself is an amazing experience, especially when Sir Chris gave Patrick a “great skills mate” comment; but the icing on the cake came when 3 times Tour de France winner Greg LeMond came over and Sir Chris asked Patrick “Patrick, do you know who this is?”, which of course he did!

Patrick reports in his own words:

“On Saturday 14th of February 2015, I was up early morning on my way to the London Excel, near the Olympic park. I was assisted by Mummy, Daddy & my older brothers Stephen & James. I couldn’t wait, I had a coaching session with Sir Chris Hoy. It was forty five minutes long and I loved it!

But it all just got so much better, I bumped into cycling legend Greg LeMond, he was being interviewed and I was on live TV! I got autographs from both Sir Chris and Greg! They were both great people and I was travelling off adrenaline for the rest of the day! The London bike show was a great experience!”

Thank you Patrick! The full experience and more photos are also captured on the Evans blog here, which shows Patrick in action with Sir Chris keeping a watchful eye.
