2014 Club Champs Road Races Event

It’s November, and that means we have 3 fabulously funtastic Club Champs events planned for you over the course of the month! As a reminder, read this page for the remaining dates of our 2015 Club Champs and go here to read all the latest reports and event features. So far we’ve had fantastic participation with the Skills and Time Trial events, and we are looking forward to seeing you all in action for the remaining Road, MTB, and Track events.

If you need a reminder of why we encourage ALL our Members – whether you are a trackie, mountain biker, newbie or just a fun rider – to take part, read this page here. For a reminder of last year’s Road Races event, as well as a few fabulous photos from the day, click here. But for now…

First up this month…

On the 7th November, it’s time for the ever popular Road Races Club Champs event. It promises to be an exciting morning, and we would like to see ALL of you taking part. This is your opportunity to try something different, so whether you are a regular mountain biker, a beginner roadie, or you have never cycled on the circuit – do give it a go!

But I don’t have a road bike! What am I to do? …

There will be road bikes available at the Mechanics’ Hut. If you don’t have a road bike, you are very welcome to see the mechanics who will be able to help you out! If you’ve never raced on a road bike before, now is your chance.

What other bikes are allowed?

Only road bikes allowed – no mountain, cycl0-cross, hybrid, or any other type of bike allowed. Only road bikes permitted.

Will there be gear checks?

Absolutely! As soon as you have signed on, you will need to make your way to the Mechanic’s Hut to have your bike gear checked. Please ensure you will leave enough time BEFORE your race start time to warm-up and be gear-checked. Each bike will be stickered once checked by the Mechanics, which will then be double checked by the Officials at the start line – if there is no sticker on your bike, you will not be allowed to race. No exceptions. If you don’t understand the gear ratios, click here to find out more.

To be clear: sign on first, then gear checks. If you haven’t signed on you will be sent straight back to the clubhouse to do so. Please pay attention to the timings below to make sure you leave enough time.

Sign On Times – PLEASE READ
Sign on times are noted below. Please note that the Club Champs events are run to a very tight schedule, and the volunteers have a lot to get all the admin ready for the session to support the Coaches. Therefore, kindly be on time as no latecomers will be allowed to sign on – there are absolutely NO exceptions as this is not regular training session. So if you wish to take part in your event, ensure you are on time.

  • Early Sign-On: 8am – 8.15am

    • This is ONLY for Members over 13 who will be attending the early performance training session. This will be run as usual so if you are over 13 and would like an early warm-up and workout, be signed on and ready to ride by 8.30am sharp.
  • Club Champs Sign-On: 840am – 9.30am
    • This is for everyone else wanting to participate in the Club Champs – come to the Clubhouse to sign on.
    • IMPORTANT:  if you are late, you will not be able to take part in your races, so please be on time! We will not be signing anyone on after 9.30am. No exceptions.

A Few Additional Notes…

  • Warm-ups should be conducted on rollers and/or turbos. If you have these, bring them along please.
  • There will be no normal development sessions on the apron or elsewhere.
  • There will be a MTB/ skills session if you don’t wish to race, or if you wish to join before/ after your race.
  • As soon as you have finished your race, we’d encourage you to stick around and cheer on your fellow Members. However, if you must leave feel free to do so but please return your number and let sign on know you are going home.
