Last Monday was the second week of Turbo sessions designed by the attendees – this time the Boys. The session started with Ralph presenting details of the Performance Pathway, and what it means in the context of rider development. During the session, first hand information of participation  in the Regional School of Racing (RSR) programme was added by both Zoe and Seth who have represented Slipstreamers in RSR sessions for Track, Circuit and MTB XC.

The type of person a rider needs to be to become to be accepted as an RSR rider was discussed, along with rider ages, selection timings and selection criteria . The British Cycling diagram along with its notes about the performance pathway was of particular interest to attendees

After the classroom session, Ralph led the turbo session created by the “boys” team which was aimed at improving performance for a Time Trial .

The warm up was the Brtish Cycling World Class Warm-up, followed by the main session which included a series of efforts ramping up over 5 minutes followed by a recovery period , repeated 3 times , with a finale of 2 extended TT efforts . This was followed by a welcomed cooldown period and stretches .

Many riders found it stretched them , and they all found it a very different session to last week .

The Monday night sessions are now taking a break until the 4th January 2016. We will kick off again covering nutrition with a guest speaker, followed by the customary Turbo Session. Remember – the Plank will be your homework over the break, and we look forward to see some of you manage to hold it for 2 minutes plus!
