A massive WELL DONE to all the racers in both the support and national series races who provided an exciting day of live cycle racing at the Hillingdon round of the National Youth Circuit Series 2025 on Saturday 21st of June. We hope you had a fantastic day with us enjoying the sunshine, racing, and of course ice cream!

To our incredible Volunteers, young and not-so-young, an immense THANK YOU for taking the time to help us. Without such a committed and enthusiastic army of helpers – many of whom did not have children racing – such an event could not happen; and each and every contribution before, during and after the races is greatly appreciated.

Enjoy a few words from our Race Secretary Martin Dawson…

As the organiser of the event, I had two main objectives. The first was to ensure that the events occurred on the specified dates and times to a professional standard. The second was for me to be able to sit around and do nothing on the day itself!   I believe we achieved the first objective and came close to achieving the second. This success is thanks to the incredible support we received from Slipstreamer parents, friends, young volunteers; helpers from clubs including London Dynamo and Evolve; the professional staff from our First Aid providers EMATS; and BC staff both on the day and at Headquarters. It was truly a collaborative effort, and everyone should be proud.

The weather played a dual role. It was an enemy because the very hot conditions made racing demanding and caused several riders to withdraw. However, it was also a friend because, unlike in 2021, we didn’t have a waterlogged car parking area and didn’t struggle to accommodate competitor vehicles.

Overall, the racing was of a very high standard. The competitiveness shown in the U14 and U16 races was some of the best I’ve seen in the National Series events we’ve run over the last 15 years. We even came close to having Slipstreamer or ex-Slipstreamer riders repeat the glories of past years when the club had at least two U14 winners. Several laps in the U16 Open race exceeded 46 km/h, which is close to Elite racing speeds at the circuit. The racing incident in the U16 girls’ race was unfortunate, but I am told that none of the riders suffered serious injuries and were home by the end of the day. The support races were well attended, with several Slipstreamer riders on the podium. It was great to see many riders take their first steps into racing.”
